it's official

Nich & I walked the furthest to get to the pilgrimage. that makes me feel good, more than you can imagine. out of 500 or so people WE walked the furthest.

welcome

what I wanted at the end of my pilgrimage was to hear some words, you might say it was inevitable but the words I heard were spot on and if you have been following the words were a clear WELCOME from a lovely smiling lady at the door of the cathedral. my journey is now over for a short time.

a gentle reminder

a gentle reminder of the distances involved, I'm not sure if it was encouraging or not?

it reminded me little of life when there are signs reminding you who you are where your at and where your going and again can be encouraging or not.

there were some very long paths

I almost felt like I was following the yellow brick road to OZ. this path was clearly marked with a spray to kill
the crop and show the way. funny thing was that people were obviously walking alongside it even though it was blatently obvious that THIS was the right way, was God trying to tell me something ?

just saw a tawny owl drop it's prey at our feet and watch us from an oak tree. time for a break I think.

give it up for lent

most of you know that I gave up church for lent, it was inevitable that I would have to take it up again. I was reading john 4 today and it reminded me of a particular purpose in my life, it was a reminder of what I feel called to do.

oh yeah chocolate

I even got an Easter egg too.

what a wonderful sign

don't read into this too much, I don't think I'm rubbish but many would have me think so or at least make me feel that way. it reminds me of why I will shout about my faith, because God thinks we are AMAZING you are NOT rubbish.

He has risen

happy Easter, He has risen.

awoke to coffee

I awoke to coffee this morning thanks to our support vehicle cook and bottle washer. having spent the night in Englands most haunted village I can safely say the ghosts were probably just as tired as I was, there were a few bumps in the night and the odd scary noise but I think that was Nichs snoring. I spent the night in and out of sleep reflecting on 'welcome' this word keeps coming back to me time and again.

full English breakfast coming up.

welcome

one of the things that I have struggled with for the last 2 years is being 'welcome'. I mean you know when your welcome and you know when your not. I was so pleased when I was welcomed with this sign on entrance to pluckley. it was like a sign, you know a spiritual sign reminding me I AM WELCOME.

banquet

many thanks go to Sha for providing a wonderful meal tonight for some tired pilgrims tonight. what I've come to learn and expect (is that the right word) from my beautiful partner is that she has real heart for hospitality. I love you sha.

the stage is set

upon arrival at our first sleepover in the quaint village of Pluckley (apparently haunted) we are greeted by Sha and her wonderful hospitality and a stage for sleeping on. time to relax now.

are you following me?

these guys were keen to come with us, not sure why tho it was a little worrying that they would follow us regardless.

lost & found

it is inevitable that I would get lost, my map Reading skills are not hot but ok. I took us down a different path but we managed to find our tracks again, a dissused train track infact. time for a coffee.

friends family faith

made for walking

these boots were made for walking and at nearly £200 they should be, however they are five years old so that's only forty something a year. they have been all over the world mind and have done many many miles.

there is something about a persons shoes and what it speaks about their personality. these shoes are going to be my home for 3 days so I'd better keep them safe. I will be meeting my longtime friend Nich on an hour, he and his wife Diana were the ones who loved cared and fed us when we lost Josie in 2001.

here's to the road.

the support vehicle

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I leave for Canterbury, it just so happened that the Young People who said they would come are now busy doing other stuff like exams and relaxing so the pilgrimage to Canterbury would be a lonely one but alas! My friend Nich Cunliffe has announced that he will be joining me for the whole walk. Thank God for that.
